A kissaten is the older kind of Japanese coffee house, dim and wood panelled, where the coffee arrives on a saucer and nobody hurries you. NB Co has filled one with bears. They sit along shelves of cream soda floats in tall glasses, iced coffee, pancake stacks under a pat of butter, strawberry shortcake, pudding a la mode and parfaits, with napolitan spaghetti and curry rice further down. The card runs warm through cream and dark wood brown.
