Notes from The Fox

The Memories sheet has become one of my quiet favorites from Miki Tamura. Her chigiri-e illustrations have a way of making ordinary objects feel like treasured things, and the gold foil highlights are placed with such care that each piece feels like a little heirloom.

The Memories sheet is a little collection of keepsakes rendered in torn paper and foil, featuring old photographs, ribbons, pressed flowers, small jars, and handwritten labels. I love how Tamura's work rewards slow looking: the more you study each piece, the more tiny details you notice in the torn edges and the placement of the foil.

How to Use

Peel each piece gently from the backing sheet and place it on paper, envelopes, journal spreads, or planner pages. The washi adhesive is low-tack, so you can lift and reposition stickers shortly after placement before they settle. Use the larger illustrations as focal points and let the smaller motifs fill in around your writing. These pair beautifully with photo journaling, memory-keeping spreads, and handwritten reflections on meaningful days. The warm palette works especially well over cream and tan paper.

Are these stickers repositionable? Yes. The washi paper uses a gentle adhesive that lifts cleanly from most paper surfaces if you reposition within a minute or so. The bond strengthens over time.
Will ink and marker show through? The washi paper is slightly translucent, so writing beneath will show through softly. Many journalers use this to their advantage for layered looks.
Is the foil durable? The foil is pressed into the paper and holds up well to normal handling. Avoid direct water contact and heavy rubbing to keep it crisp.
